Notes on battery disposal

In connection with the sale of batteries or the supply of devices containing batteries, we are obliged to inform you of the following:

Batteries must not be disposed of in household waste.

You can either return used batteries, which we carry or have carried as new batteries in our range, to us at your own expense, or return them free of charge to our shipping warehouse (shipping address). Alternatively, you can dispose of the batteries at local collection points.

As end-users, you are legally obliged to return used batteries so that they can be recycled or disposed of properly.

Used batteries may contain harmful substances that can damage the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. However, batteries also contain important raw materials, such as iron, zinc, manganese, or nickel, and can be recycled.

The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meaning:

The symbol of the crossed-out waste bin means that the battery must not be disposed of in household waste.

For batteries containing a certain amount of lead, cadmium, or mercury, the following additions under the symbol with the crossed-out waste bin indicate the respective harmful substances:

Pb = Battery contains more than 0,004 percent by mass of lead
Cd = Battery contains more than 0,002 percent by mass of cadmium
Hg = Battery contains more than 0,0005 percent by mass of mercury

Information on the costs involved according to Article 56 paragraph 4 of the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation 2023/1542) can be found at the “Batterie-Zurück” initiative.
