We developed our tabletops over many years in close collaboration with our customers. Their core is made from poplar plywood. Why? Because poplar is exceptionally light while also being robust and stable. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cb\u003eBut why isn’t every type of solid wood suitable for a camper van tabletop? \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eInitially, we used solid oak almost exclusively because appearance was an important consideration for us. In practice, however, oak proved to be rather bulky and heavy. Practicality came first, so we decided to switch to a different type of wood. The Lagun system is regularly assembled and dismantled in everyday use, making a heavy solid-oak tabletop impractical. Poplar and spruce are considerably lighter at the same size. The result is not only eye-catching but also a practical long-term solution.\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cb\u003eBut we still don’t want to compromise on style!\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eThat is why we worked with our customers to select coated surfaces for the tabletops. The coating is much more durable, has an attractive grain and gives the camper van interior a refined, welcoming feel. It also allows us to offer a wider choice of finishes, including a concrete effect. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cb\u003eAnd why are the tabletops white underneath? \u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eFor two reasons: practicality and price. White reflects light, while dark colours absorb a great deal of it. The latter is impractical in a camper van. A white underside allows the tabletop to bring more light and a greater sense of space to your home on wheels. We also want to keep the price in focus. \u003cspan style=\"letter-spacing: 0px;\"\u003eCoating the panel on both sides would make it considerably more expensive.
